The present invention relates to the field of drug delivery and, in particular, cationic liposome-based vaccines. In embodiments, the present invention provides methods for producing liposomes, the specificity of which is determined by a ligand (e.g., targeted by an antibody or antibody fragment), which can be used to deliver molecules to induce an immune response against viral antigens or to treat or prevent viral diseases. The specificity of the delivery system is determined by the ligands used.
