Disclosed is a powder formulation for use in a dry powder inhaler, the powder comprising microparticles consisting of an active ingredient to be administered for the treatment of a respiratory disease having a therapeutical nominal dose equal to or lower than 20 ìg on each actuation of the powder inhaler and a non-therapeutically active physiologically acceptable excipient, wherein a) the MMD of the microparticles is comprised between 2 and 15 ìm; b) the d(0.1) is higher than 0.5 ìm; and c) the d(0.9) is lower than 60 ìm. Also disclosed is a process for the preparation of the powder formulation above.
