A layered pharmaceutical formulation for the administration of two or more active pharmaceutical ingredients comprising: a first pharmaceutical layer comprising a first active pharmaceutical ingredient; a second pharmaceutical layer comprising a second active pharmaceutical ingredient; and a rapid release intermediate layer disposed between said first and second pharmaceutical layers, wherein said intermediate rapid release layer is configured to dissolve rapidly in vivo, and thereby leaving said first and second pharmaceutical layers substantially intact, but physically separated.
