A modular micro-reactor with parallel micro-channels on fluid guide plates forchemicalreactions, but not for evaporation purposes, is known.A modular falling-film evaporator was developed, comprising a stack ofalternate gap-typeevaporation chambers and plate-type evaporation modules with a set of parallelmicro-channels, the evaporation chambers being open at the top and/or bottom overessentiallythe entire width of the modules and the stack being arranged in a vessel.The falling-film evaporator is used in a process for the recovery of a gaseousphase froma liquid fluid on a commercial scale. It is suitable for concentratingthermolabile solutionsand for providing a rapidly controllable gas stream.
