The present invention relates to an RT-PCR method employing an N-primer, and to an RT-PCR kit comprising an N-primer. More specifically, the present invention employs a primer comprising any desired partial base having a sequence with a very high degree of reaction to viruses, thereby making it possible to rapidly and accurately detect viruses simply by the presence of a little viral RNA on a plant affected by a virus, and to diagnose whether infection has occurred using the results of a reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction having a detection threshold which is at least 1,000 times higher than diagnostic methods employing antiserum.
