METHOD FOR CONTROLLING AUTOMATIC WHITE BALANCE, CAPABLE OF EXPRESSING MORE EXACT WHITE COLOR WHEN A WIDE ANGLE LENS IS APPLIED

PURPOSE: A method for controlling automatic white balance is provided to simplify hardware configuration for automatic white balancing control when the method is applied in electronic camera using a wide angle lens generating a color distortion.;CONSTITUTION: A color space of an input image is changed from a RGB(Red, Green, and Blue) color space to a YCbCr color space(S11). The input image is classified into a plurality of fractional areas(S12). The fractional area is selected according to an order decided by an average Y value of pixels belonging to the fractional area(S14). The number of pixels having Cb and Cr values in pre-determined range is compared with a critical value for a white zone determination(S16). When the number of the pixels is larger than the critical value, an automatic white balance gain is gained using average Y, average Cb, average Cr in the selected fractional areas(S17).;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2010
