PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing 1,5-dimethylterephthalene provided to obtain high selectivity and conversion rate by controlling exothermic phenomenon of cyclization, to have high purity and high yield through continuous hydrogenolysis, and to enhance process profitability.;CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing 1,5-dimethylterephthal comprises: an alkenylation step(S1) of manufacturing 5-ortho-tolyl-pentene by reacting 1,3-butadiene with ortho-xylene; a fractional distillation step(S2) of separating unreacted ortho-xylene through fractional distillation of products of the alkenylatioh step; a cyclization reaction step(S3) of manufacturing 1,5-dimethylterephthalate through the cyclization reactioin of the distilled 5-ortho-tolyl-pentene; and a hydrogenolysis step(S4) of manufacturing the 1,5-dimethylterephthalene through the hydrogenolysis of the 1,5-dimethylterephthalate.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2010
