FIELD: physics.;SUBSTANCE: method for detection of attenuation decrement in contactless measurement of viscosity of high-temperature metal melts is based on illumination with light beam from source of mirror light located on twisted elastic thread. Crucible with melt is suspended on elastic thread. Further amplitude-time parametres are registered in trajectory of light beam reflected from this mirror. Then produced signal is measured, which reflects parametres of melt crucible twisting oscillations attenuation. At the same time values of several amplitudes of twisting oscillations Aj are detected: start one Ao, from which measurement of melt crucible twisting oscillations attenuation is started, and An, in one of which the measurement is ended. An is represented by measured amplitude An = Ae, which is less than start Ao e times, where e is basis of natural logarithms. Also a number of oscillations n is defined between amplitudes Ao and Ae. Then, taking these parametres in account, logarithmic decrement of attenuation δ is calculated according to the following formula: δ=l/n{ln(Ao/An)} for further detection of kinematic viscosity ν.;EFFECT: simplified and optimised procedure of viscosity measurement, with reduction of measurement time with simultaneous reduction of melt components waste with preservation of authenticity and accuracy of detection of amplitude-time parametres of melt crucible twisting oscillations attenuation.;2 cl, 5 dwg
