The device (10) has elements (11, 13) connected by a joint (12) and pivoted from an opened condition into a closed condition. The elements are firmly held together in the closed condition, and an intermediate gap is formed between the elements for accommodation of an attachment section of airbags provided with an opening (21). The element (11) has a hollow body (18) with an insertion opening for accommodation of a retaining bolt arranged at a carrier part. The hollow body has a holding unit at an interior side for holding the retaining bolt. The elements are made of a thermoplastic plastic. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting an airbag by a mounting device.
