The method involves applying a dopant source (5) on regions (3), which are to be doped heavily, of a solar cell substrate (1) using an ink-jet printing device (2). Another dopant source is applied on regions to be doped weakly. The dopants are diffused from the dopant sources into the regions for forming heavy and weak doping, respectively in an annealing process. Electrical contacts are attached to the heavily doped regions by ink jet printing. An anti-reflection coating is applied on a front side of the substrate. An independent claim is also included for a device for implementing a solar cell production method comprising an ink jet printing device.
