The method involves cooling and dehumidifying air flowing into a vehicle interior by an air-conditioning compressor during activation of a cooling function of a heating and air-conditioning cooling system. The air is subsequently heated at a predefined target-blow out temperature. The compressor is automatically deactivated by the activated cooling function when cooling of the air by the compressor is not required for obtaining the predefined target-blow out temperature. A compressor coupling connecting the compressor at a cooling circuit is opened for deactivating the compressor.
