The method involves a processing a component for forming sliding and/or bearing surfaces by an electro-chemical material removal method. A tool with a property of the sliding and/or bearing surfaces of the component is used as a cathode, while the component is used as an anode. An electrolyte is inserted between the tool and the component, where the tool corresponds to shape, measurement, surface structure and surface quality of the sliding and/or bearing surfaces of the component. Electric current is conducted through the electrolyte. An independent claim is also included for a hydrostatic positive-displacement machine.
