The method involves determining probability distribution of a correlation evaluator, and adjusting the distribution with a maximum at a position in a direction to provide probability density. An actual correlation value with preset probability does not fall below a preset value, during selection of a new position of the maximum. Overall risk is determined based on the new position and risks and portions of two components (A, B) e.g. educts, in a product. The components are modified based on the overall risk such that the product is optimized.
