The method for producing a welding connection of two workpieces (4, 6) using an energy beam, comprises lying the workpiece on joining surfaces (10, 12) to be welded that are partially contacted to each other, guiding the energy beam along a joining point, which is formed through the joining surfaces to be welded that lie on each other, and fusing a material on the joining surfaces to be welded by the energy beam where a weld is formed after cooling. The joining surfaces are designed in a way that results a gap (18), which has a depth of highly 90% of a welding depth, along the joining point. The method for producing a welding connection of two workpieces (4, 6) using an energy beam, comprises lying the workpiece on joining surfaces (10, 12) to be welded that are partially contacted to each other, guiding the energy beam along a joining point, which is formed through the joining surfaces to be welded that lie on each other, and fusing a material on the joining surfaces to be welded by the energy beam where a weld is formed after cooling. The joining surfaces to be welded are designed in a way that results a gap (18), which has a depth of highly 90% of a welding depth, along the joining point. A cross-section through the joining surfaces has a beam direction line (24) and the gap describes a wedge-shaped progression (26) along the beam direction line. A half opening angle of the wedge-shaped gap is 0.1-15[deg] , and is different for each joining surface regarding the beam direction line. The gap has a radius at the joining surface related to the beam direction line, and an opening width at the joining point, where the opening width is larger than the width of the energy beam at the joining point and is larger or equal to the sum of the width of the energy beam and an accuracy of welding positioning regulation. A further wedge-shaped or radial gap is disposed on a beam exit side opposite to the gap. An independent claim is included for a component with a weld.
