The lamp (5) has a base (70) with a reference ring (702) that is mechanically connected with an optical system. Electrodes take a defined position compared to the ring. Two electrical contacts (210, 220) i.e. flat contacts, are connected with corresponding mating contacts in the optical system and arranged such that the connection is established simultaneously with mechanical connections during inserting the gas-discharge lamp into the optical system. The electrical contacts engage in a carrier part of the optical system. The ring is made of a metallic material.
