The method involves injecting a liquid fuel into a combustion chamber of a dual-fuel internal combustion engine, and igniting the liquid fuel. A gaseous fuel is supplied into the combustion chamber of the combustion engine, and the combustion engine is operated with a predetermined liquid fuel to gaseous fuel ratio. The gaseous fuel is mixed with air in the combustion chamber before supplying the gaseous fuel into the combustion chamber. The liquid fuel comprises a fuel emulsion that is selected from a group comprising diesel oil, heating oil, fat oil or bio fuel.
