The method involves providing a connecting rod (2) with a crank eye (4) and a connecting rod eye (3), and carrying out controlled energy application in an upper surface region of the connecting rod. A piston is connected with a connecting rod arrangement (1) before calibration takes place. The energy application is carried out by selective irradiation with laser. The upper surface region of the connecting rod is melted by the energy application. Parallelism between a symmetry axis of the crank eye and the connecting rod eye is determined. An independent claim is also included for a connecting rod arrangement comprising a connecting rod.
