The carrier (17) has a bearing surface (36) for receiving an article (37) to be printed, and a frame (21) including lower and upper cover plates (22, 23) at its lower surface and its top side, respectively. The upper and lower cover plates are arranged on the frame in an air-tight manner. A vacuum connector has through holes (32) in the upper cover plate. The through holes extend from the bearing surface to an interior (31) of the carrier. The bearing surface is made of material whose heat conductivity is less than heat conductivity of materials of other components of the carrier.
