The method involves determining amplitude of wheel vibration in a range around a natural frequency of a respective wheel of a chassis, where the amplitude of the wheel vibration is determined from a measuring signal of a sensor that is attached to the respective wheel. Damping of a damper (16) attached to the wheel is increased when it is determined that the amplitude of the wheel vibration of the wheel of the chassis is larger than a defined threshold value, where the damper is attached to an edge of the respective wheel. An independent claim is also included for a chassis of a motor vehicle, comprising two axles.
