The device has an electronically controlled respiratory gas conveying device e.g. electrical blower, with a sensor device for determining respiratory gas parameters and/or parameters of the conveying device. A patient hose system is provided with a patient interface and a patient valve for releasing exhaled air in to ambient air, supplies respiratory gas to a patient during phases of inspiration and expiration, where the respiratory gas provided from the conveying device cools the conveying device. The blower and a display (3) are arranged in an interior space of the device. An independent claim is also included for a method for cooling a respiratory device for a patient.
