The method involves identifying rear collision at a rear impact and maintaining predetermined brake pressure in a braking system (4) of motor vehicle. The rear impact is identified by the data of an acceleration sensor (2). The existing brake pressure in the brake system of the motor vehicle remains intact until the ignition is turned off. An independent claim is included for a device for execution of accident consequences reducing method.
