The appliance (1) has a lower cooking sub-assembly (2) and an upper cooking sub-assembly ( 3) articulated with each other by a hinge (4). A selection device (8) passes from a blocking state in which amplitude of rotation of the sub-assemblies is delimited by closed and opening positions to an unblocking state in which the sub-assemblies attain a flat opening position. The device includes a manual control button (9) mounted in translation on the sub-assembly (3) along a radial direction relative to a hinge axis between blocking and unblocking positions corresponding to blocking and unblocking states of the device.
