A lever type connector includes a first connector housing (20), a second connector housing (30) including a projection (31); and a lever (10) pivotally engaged with the first connector housing (20) and including two arm plates (12) and an interconnection bar (11) which connects the two arm plates (12). Each arm plate (12) comprises a temporary holding projection (16) projecting from the arm plate (12) to the other arm plate (12), abutting the projection (31) and causing the deformation the arm plate (12) so that the arm plate (12) retracts to the other arm plate (12) when the projection (31) is inserted into the cam groove (15); and a cancellation lever (18) extending from an edge of the arm plate (12) and positioned on an opposite side of the inlet with respect to the pivot support (13), causing deformation of the arm (12) so that the arm plate (12) retracts to the other arm plate (12) when the cancellation lever (18) is pressed to bring it closer to the other cancellation lever (18).
