The device has an exhaust gas circulation circuit (12) circulating gas from energy of an exhaust collector (26) toward an intake splitter (22) by a channel (40). Walls (18) of a cylinder (16) are swept by a fluid circulating in a passage (32) surrounded by the channel in which exhaust gas of the engine is circulated. The circuit comprises winnowing units (54, 56) controlling the exhaust gas circulating in the circuit. Other channels of the circuit links a region of a sidewall (66) of a motor casing to the former channel. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling circulation of exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine.
