A noseband 10 for use with a bridle comprises a head strap 12 with an eye 16 at either end and a single piece nose strap 14, the nose strap comprising a flexible elongate member of sufficient length to form a continuous band arranged to form, in use, a first loop 34 extending from the chin groove to the bridge of a horse or pony's nose 22, passing in front of the bit 32, and a second loop 36 positioned on the lower jaw posterior to the chin groove and passing through the eyes of the head strap. The strap may be leather, rope or chain and may comprise a buckle or other fastening at either end. A method of using the noseband in combination with a bridle to control the behavior of a horse or pony is also disclosed.
