PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that, although wood saccharified liquid is a resource of the effective production of polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHAs), the effective use of the wood saccharified liquid has not been made because the question is how to remove fermentation inhibitors, such as furans, acetic acid and phenols, contained in the wood saccharified liquid.;SOLUTION: The method for producing PHAs or the like using wood saccharified liquid by halophilic bacterium is characterized in that the halophilic bacteria are proliferated in a single or a plurality of media, with pH 8.8 to 11, containing the wood saccharified liquid, and that the produced PHAs is 50 wt.% or more of the dry cell weight. The method is also characterized in that the halophilic bacteria are proliferated in media with pH 8.8 to 11 composed of inorganic salts and the wood saccharified liquid, as a single source of organic carbon, or multiple sources of organic carbon, and that the produced PHAs is 50 wt.% or more of the dry cell weight.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
