PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for enhancing homogenous combustion and improving ignition in rotary and reciprocating piston internal combustion engines. PSOLUTION: The process has secondary chambers 32 embedded in a cylinder periphery 36 to initiate radical ignition species generation in an earlier cycle for use in a later cycle. The secondary chambers 32 communicate with a main chamber 34 via small conduits 42. Novel control means for regulating the quantities of radical ignition spices ultimately generated are coordinated with the progressions facilitated by the secondary chambers 32. The pre-determinable presence of the radical spices so supplied then alters or adds controlled variety to the dominant chain-initiation reactions of a main combustion ignition mechanism of the later cycle.
