PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defect detection device capable of determining a defect with a proper criterion in accordance with the proportion of included colors, even when the defect includes a pixel of a plurality of colors, in a technique for detecting defects of a display panel, by picking up by a camera an image displayed on the display panel, including pixels of a plurality of colors such as a color LCD panel.;SOLUTION: In the defect detection device that includes: an image-pickup section for picking up an image of a display panel to obtain it as image data; a defect region detection section extracting a defect region candidate from the image data; a color specifying section specifying the color of a pixel as an object regarding region candidate; and a quality determining section for modulating the defect degree by multiplying a contrast value by a correction coefficient that is different in dependence on the color to determine the defect, when the defect degree is larger than a determination value, the quality determining section calculates the defect degree by summing after multiplying the contrast value for each color by the correction coefficient that is different in dependence on the color, when one defect region candidate includes a pixel of a plurality of types of colors.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
