PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing material which can retain such air permeability as to be capable of being satisfactorily used for a porous static pressure gas bearing even after having been subjected to machining.;SOLUTION: The bearing material has a back metal 1 and a baked and sintered porous metal layer 2 on the face of the back metal 1. The sintered porous metal layer 2 contains particles of an inorganic material in its boundaries. The porous sintered metal layer contains tin, nickel, phosphorus and copper. The particles of the inorganic material include at least one of graphite, boron nitride, graphite fluoride, calcium fluoride, aluminum oxide, silicon oxide and silicon carbide.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
