PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a very compact volume reducing apparatus of crushing object installable at a lower part of a machine tool.;SOLUTION: This volume reducing apparatus 10 is provided with a body 14 having openings in upper and lower parts, and a hopper attached to the upper opening 20, with a crushing chamber 26 demarcated by four side faces; and a crushing rotor 30 with its shafts 32, 34 connected to a driving means including a motor 28 and freely rotatable around the shafts. The crushing rotor 30 has multiple crushing blades 46 protruded from the circumferential face. The body 14 has abrasion resistant plates 42 on the two side faces parallel to the shafts 32, 34, disposed with given spaces from crushing blades of the crushing rotor 30.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
