PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical illuminating device for microscope which is made compact in size. ;SOLUTION: This vertical illumination optical system for microscope is provided with a bright visual field mirror part 30 and a dark visual field mirror part 31, and selectively insets and detaches the mirror parts 30, 31 at the point of intersection between an illumination optical axis 28 and an observation optical axis 29. Therein, a mirror block 27 is moveably disposed in a linear direction and juxtaposes the bright visual field mirror part 30 with the dark visual field mirror part 31 along the movement direction, a guide groove 33 is formed on the mirror block 27 along a direction perpendicular to the moving direction. At the same time, a roller 35 of the tip of arm 34 which is disposed on a rotational shaft 331 of motor 33 is inserted along the guide groove 33, the mirror block 27 is linearly moved in a straight line by the movement along the guide groove 33 of an arm 34 accompanied by the rotational of the motor 33 and, further, the positioning of the movement of the bright visual field mirror part 30 and the dark visual field mirror part 31 to the point of intersection between the illumination optical axis 28 and the observation optical axis 29, on the basis of the movement is performed by the engagement of a sensor plate 39 to click grooves 391, 392.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
