PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing system of an image forming apparatus and a temperature control method thereof that stabilize power supply to a fixing roller while minimizing dispersion width of the surface temperature of a fixing roller and stably controlling the surface temperature of a fixing roller by controlling the surface temperature of the fixing roller by controlling the power supply to a heater based upon a maximum power supply time, a minimum power supply time, and a minimum power supply stop time.;SOLUTION: The fixation system is equipped with a fixing temperature control unit having a controller which controls the surface temperature T of the fixing roller through the stages of: detecting the surface temperature T of the fixing roller in each temperature control cycle t0; comparing the detected surface temperature T of the fixing roller with previously set target temperature Tt; turning ON and OFF the heater based upon the maximum power supply time and minimum power supply stop time which are previously set when the surface temperature T is lower than the target temperature Tf; and turning ON/OFF the heater based upon the minimum power supply time which is previously set when the surface temperature T of the fixing roller is higher than the target temperature Tt.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
