PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a subject image varied at high speed self-adaptable at a high dynamic range, while preventing a strain in the subject image having no contrast generated by quantization. SOLUTION: This unit is provided with picture element sensors 1 for photoreceiving the subject image, memories 2 for storing quantized data, an event counter 3 for counting the number of reaction picture element sensors when the picture element sensors 1 react, a filtering means 6 for writing- controlling a count value c of the counter 3 in the memories 2, a filtering clock generating circuit 5, and a filtering judging means 4.
