PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image irregularity inspection apparatus for automatically detecting image irregularity caused in an image having luminance shading with high accuracy. PSOLUTION: The image irregularity inspection apparatus applies white balance correction to image data of an inspection object image whose image irregularity is to be inspected, converts the image data after the white balance correction to the L*a*b* color system, and discriminates image irregularity on the basis of saturation data after the conversion. When image data of the RGB color system are converted into the data of the L*a*b* color system, the luminance shading A appears in only the L* and the luminance shading A can be separated from the a*, b*. Thus, the image irregularity c can easily be detected from the a*, b* data without being affected by the luminance shading A. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
