PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spring retainer which has high stiffness and high fatigue strength in spite of being formed wholly from sheet metal and further can be trimmed in weight to the utmost extent.;SOLUTION: A cylinder 2 and a spring receiving flange 3 of the spring retainer 1 are formed integrally from the sheet metal. An outer circumferential side against which an upper end of the valve spring in the spring receiving flange 3 abuts is kept in a horizontal position so as to be higher than an inner circumferential side of a base portion and then is bent upward. As a result, an annular guide 8 erecting upward is formed in an intermediary portion of the spring receiving flange 3. A coupling portion 9 of the cylinder 2 and the spring receiving flange 3 is made larger than the thickness of the cylinder 2 and an outer circumferential surface 10 at the corners of the coupling portion 9 is made into a nearly circular-arch-shaped curve.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
