This invention relates to a device for evaluating the life and performance of bearing seals under simulated conditions of load and dust. It consists of a rig processed with vertical and axial actuators to exert pressure on a test piece mounted within a chamber. The test piece is rotatably driven under load conditions while dry dust is sprayed on it under load conditions. This cycle is repeated till the seals get deflected to allow ingress of dust to the bearing, thereby evaluating the life and performance of the seals. This invention also includes a method of evaluating the life and performance of bearing seals with the device as described above.
