摘要

Kayo offers generation 1, 2 & 3 hub units using balls or tapered rollers for automotive wheel bearings. Recent customer trends for increased CAFE requirements (energy efficiency) and environmental considerations require improved wheel bearing performance. Kayo has developed a reliable, advanced shaft clinching technology and has developed new hub units using this technology. Key points about the new shaft clinching technology are explained in this paper. Furthermore, observation of the shaft deformation process along with Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis results are shown to explain the generation of clamping force, caused by the axial stress balance from the elastic deformation between the shaft and the inner ring during the clinching process.
