The invention relates to a transformer for a multi-system vehicle comprising a traction primary winding, a traction secondary winding and an auxiliary secondary winding. In direct current operation, system-related current pulses, which are sometimes high, are damped or lessened by introducing an electrical component, such as a resistor or a capacitor, into the closed circuit of the auxiliary secondary winding. The electrical currents in the auxiliary secondary winding are thereby limited in an effective manner. At the same time, the overall impedance of the traction secondary winding in direct current operation can be controlled in a targeted manner.
