The continuous material path is fed over two rollers with axes parallel to each other in a plane and held by a frame pivotable about a first axis essentially perpendicular to the plane to vary the position of the edge of the material path in the direction of the roller axes. The frame is pivotable in a second rotation axis with one component parallel to the direction of motion of the path between two rollers. The continuous material path (10) is fed over two rollers (24,26) about a defined peripheral angle in each case, whereby the roller axes are parallel to each other in a plane and held by a frame (28) pivotable about a first axis (30) essentially perpendicular to the plane to vary the position of the edge of the material path in the direction of the roller axes. The frame is pivotable in a second rotation axis (58) with one component parallel to the direction of motion of the path between two rollers.
