Provided are a therapeutic agent, which is to be administered to an animal being in bad health and under a medical treatment to promote the recovery of physical conditions thereof, a therapeutic method and so on. The therapeutic agent for promoting recovery of physical conditions of an exhausted animal, which shows a decrease in activity (vitality) and is under a medical treatment, is characterized by containing, as the active ingredient, ghrelin, a derivative thereof or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of the same, and enabling improvement in one or more evaluation items including activity (vitality), blood test data, biochemical test data, body temperature, anger/anxiety level and breathing rate.
