A method and a control device for triggering person protecting means in a vehicle are proposed. In said method, the following successive, cyclically repeated steps are carried out: a transmission memory is filled with first triggering data from a previous cycle; at least one accident sensor signal is read; the first triggering data is transmitted from the transmission memory to a triggering circuit; a triggering decision is made in accordance with the at least one accident sensor signal; second triggering data is generated in accordance with the triggering decision.
