PURPOSE: A security system of a portable terminal and method thereof are provided to change a lock release code to a pre-stored lock setting code at an USIM( Universal Subscriber Identification Module) card and a portable terminal. ;CONSTITUTION: A key input unit(110) is inputted user authentication information from a user. A communication unit(150) transmits the user authentication information that is inputted through the key input unit to an authentication server. The communication unit receives the lock release information from the authentication server. The controller(180) receives the lock release information from the authentication server.
