The present invention relates to a driving device of a switched reluctance motor for driving a motor by turning on / off a connected switch element to supply and cut off power of a driving power source to a winding of a stator of a switched reluctance motor. The position information of the stator of the rotor is obtained by using a voltage detector for detecting the terminal voltage and a voltage signal detected corresponding to the residual magnetic flux of the rotor and the stator through the terminal of the stator winding after the switch element is turned off from the voltage detector. And a control unit for controlling the on / off driving of the switch element using the extracted rotor position information. According to the apparatus and method for driving a switched reluctance motor using the residual magnetic flux, the position and speed of the rotor can be calculated simply by detecting a signal in which the induced electromotive force of the winding becomes zero at the time when the rotor and stator poles completely escape. It is possible to use sensorless driving, and it provides the advantage that it can be used regardless of switching method, advance angle, or parameter change.
