The seat has a fixed backrest (1), and a seat surface (2) foldable around a seat pivot axis (21) parallel to the backrest. A gas pressure spring (4) is vertically aligned and fastened to a central axle tube (3) and lockable in different expansions. A seat carrying plate (22) is fastened to the spring. An edge of the plate running perpendicular to the backrest is broader than the axle tube and narrower than the seat surface. The seat surface is articulately fastened to the edge of the plate, and a backrest carrier (5) runs from a lower edge of the backrest.
