The method involves coupling a compressed gas vehicle by a filling coupling (15). A residual pressure in a vehicle tank is determined. An electronic, electric or pneumatic valve (2) of a high pressure container (1) or a pressure bank is opened, where the pressure bank is provided with lowest pressure that is sufficient to allow quick overflow of compressed gas into the tank. A filling sequence is continued till reaching a desired pressure level in the tank or discontinued if the container with sufficient pressure for further filling process is not available. The vehicle is uncoupled. An independent claim is also included for a filling system for filling compressed gas in a compressed gas vehicle.
