The method involves supplying a medium to high pressure storage containers (HS1-HS6) that are successively connected with a storage container (S) to be filled. The high pressure storage containers are completely emptied during a filling process at pressure that lies under pressure of the storage container to be filled. One of the high pressure storage containers is filled using a single- or multi-stage compressor unit (V) that compresses the medium to be stored in the high pressure storage containers.
