The flow meter (1) has a damming body (3) arranged in a measuring pipe (2), and an optical fiber (7) arranged on and/or in a membrane (5) for detecting deflection of the membrane. The optical fiber is partially and effectively connected with the membrane, so that the deflection of the membrane caused by medium pressure in an effectively connected region leads to extension and/or compression of the optical fiber. The optical fiber is designed as a multicore fiber, a photon-crystal-fiber, a solid-core-photon-crystal-fiber or an optical fiber with fiber-integrated Bragg grating.
