The method involves connecting a drill head with a drilling rod that is arranged at a drilling system. A drill is driven as a pilot drill (5) in a horizontal direction outside a warfare agent suspected area (1) at a target cavity (4). A geophysical parameter of space around the drill head and/or the rod is continuously or discontinuously measured by a measuring device during drilling operation or after completion of the pilot drill. The measuring results are transmitted to a control unit. A drilling suspension is inserted into the pilot drill, where the suspension supports the pilot drill. An independent claim is also included for a device for probing a warfare agent into the earth.
