The clamping system (1) comprises a stationary base (2), which is connected by a rotating camp (6) with a tiltable tensioning roller carrier (5) to the base. A spring element (8) is provided, which is assigned between the base and the tensioning roller carrier. The initial tension strength of the spring element is adjusted in a stepless manner. An independent claim is also included for a method for obtaining a sufficient pre-load of a traction mechanism.
