The device (1) has a drive shaft on which a knotter pinion, spur gears and a knotter projecting lip (2.1) are arranged, and a driven shaft on which other spur gears and another knotter projecting lip (2.2) are arranged. The drive shaft is driven over the knotter pinion. Two lateral thread pressers (9.1, 9.2) are assigned in a form of mirror-image to center planes between the knotter projecting lips. A middle thread presser (11) is swung between the knotter projecting lips, where one of the lateral thread pressers is formed as an active threaded clamp. An independent claim is also included for a method for creating two nodes.
